The Hero Dolimites is known as the “hardest race in the Alps”, with its 86 km long and 4500 meters of vertical gain.
It is also one of the big races for the XCM riders of Team Trek Pirelli. A goal reached today by Samuele Porro who crossed the finish line in second place, riding the hardtail Trek Procaliber.
“I am really satisfied, my target was the podium after 2 years of not stepping on it. I didn’t have a very fast start, but I tried to keep a good pace. Fabian and myself rode some km’s toghether in the chasing group, then he had a small mechanical problem and slowed down. I caught Seewald and Paez In the downhill. On the last climb I tried to stay on the wheel of Seewald, but he was too strong today. I’m really happy with the second place, and this was also a good test for the European Champinship of next weeked, which will be a more suitable track for me“. – Samuele
A really good race also for Fabian Rabensteiner who ended in 6th position, his best results in this race.
“I felt good today, I had a good start and managed to ride the first part of the race inside the chasing group. After Arabba, I had a small mechanical that slowed me down and forced me to run for a small section, this left my legs quite tired. When I finally got back on the saddle and slowly picked up the pace and overtook a lot of opponents, arriving in sixth place, my best result here at Hero. The condition is good and I feel ready for next week’s European championship”. – Fabian
